The hosting company HostMetro was launched in 2003, and it is based in Arlington Heights, IL, USA. HostMetro main focus is on providing low-cost shared hosting service for individuals and small businesses.

At HostMetro customers can choose from two shared plans: the MegaMax plan being designed for general purpose websites, while the SuperMax plan for eCommerce websites. The hosting accounts are managed through cPanel control panel and include a free domain name. Each plan is allowed to host unlimited domains; bandwidth and storage is not limited to a fixed number.

HostMetro offers 24/7 US based online support via phone, live chat and email tickets. They also have a large database of articles and video tutorials which will help new users to get started with their hosting account.

The company has a 99.9% uptime guarantee, which is calculated over a 12 months period and a 30 day money back guarantee as well. Backups are performed once a week, but there is not guarantee for storing customer’s websites. The customer has full responsibility for backing up, storing and managing the files hosted on HostMetro’s servers.

Host Metro has a fantastic automated billing program. They will always get your money on time. That's about all they seem to do well.

I hosted a site with them starting in 2015. In 2017 I renewed hosting for 3 years. In early 2017 they disabled the IP address my site was pointing to, without updating the ip address (they were also managing the domain name), or notifying me, or keeping a backup of the site. When I discovered this, it was somehow all my fault because I didn't notice it right away. I did not have a full back up of the site, nor did I get any type of a refund for the renewal of the domain name or the hosting fees. The many hours of work I put into the site are gone. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere. Its not worth the financial savings.

A dishonest company
To refuse a refund, the customer service officer lied to me telling me the fake amount.

After the lies were disclosed, they agreed to a refund, but added absurd conditions

I do not agree with their absurd demands, so they did not give me a refund.

Eventually I got my money back through PayPal

How can I received too much discount??
HostMetro owe me an apology

I did agree with the review on this page that says the customer service is 'inconsistently decent'. There is nothing inconsistent about their customer service. I've had many major problems that I've had to contact customer service about. It is always a horrible experience. While some companies believe that the 'customer is always right'. Host metro seems to believe the opposite. On two occasions the company deleted all my files. The logs proved it was not my fault. However, both times they wanted me to pay to get them restored. They will tell you to call in to get things resolved even though their phone system has been 'under construction' for months and does not allow people to talk to any body. Based on my experience, I believe they intentionally try to scam people.

HostMetro support is useless. Very unprofessional, and they seem to have no technical knowledge. I rarely receive actual answers to my questions or issues, but usually they just respond with "canned" responses (ie: "Thank you for contacting us. We are working on the situation. We will contact you once completed.") And don't address my questions directly. Very frustrating trying to talk to someone that is knowledgable.

Servers are VERY slow. frequent downtime with no reason.

I have moved away from their service since. STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND!

While it sometimes works, sometimes my website is not officially down, but loads SOO slow. It is annoying to refer people to go to my webpage, and then to tell them to keep refreshing. I'm about to cancel my service with them.
