How to Access BlueHost Webmail?
You don’t need to setup anything because webmail is all online. You can access it in three different ways:
- Option 1: using any web browser go to bluehost.com/webmail, type your email address and password and click Login.
- Option 2: login to your control panel at my.bluehost.com and click on Hosting > Email menu. Find the email address you want to access and click on View Inbox. This will take to the login page, where you will need to type your email and password.
- Option 3: you can setup a custom sub-domain for your main domain that redirects to the webmail client. To do this, you will need to login first to your email using one of the above mentioned methods and copy the URL from the browser. In the control panel, you will need to setup a subdomain such as mymail.yourdomain.com and redirect it to the URL you just copied. Next time when you access the subdomain, this will take you directly to email login page.
IMAP or POP3 – Which Protocol Should You Choose?
Using webmail is a great option to access your emails from anywhere; however you might also want to have an email client on your main computer, which you use most for your work. If you want to setup your email to Thunderbird or other email client, you will need to choose a protocol.

Potential Problems with Email Client or Webmail

- Maximum Email Numbers per Hour: by default, BlueHost limits each customer to send a maximum 150 email per hour. In a day-by-day situation, when sending out business emails, this number won’t be a problem. But if you send out an email to your email list, that contains more than 150 recipients, you will get notified by the system, that you exceeded the maximum amount of emails. If you have more than 150 email subscribers, you can split it in multiple lists, and schedule the emails to different hours. Forwarders can also cause similar problem. So always check these two before contacting support. If you would like to increase the number of emails you can send per hour, you should contact support and give them details why you need that limit increase.
- Email Can’t Be Delivered: there could be multiple reasons why you will get this error message when trying to send an email. Rather your web space is full, and can’t save the email to the email server, or the email address you are trying to send does not exists. In the last case, the email will bounce back as undelivered.
- Email Server is Down: due to technical problems sent emails can queued up on BlueHost’s mail proxy server. In this case you should wait couple of hours for the email to be sent out, before you try re-sending it.
